Swarm - Melbourne Festival 2012

Place of Assembly Schoolhouse Studios, – Melbourne Festival 2012

curated by Elizabeth Barnett and Alice Glenn

Swarm is an Audiovisual installation which draws on the idea of of togetherness, communication and Place of Assembly, manifested as an insect Swarm and playing upon the human collective dread associated with creepy-crawly phobias. Installed in the site of the Schoolhouse, Swarm suggests the latent wildlife hidden within the walls, who somehow sense the impending demolition of their home.

Using projected animation and sound, Swarm creates a mini narrative where the swarming spectacle of bugs team and scuttle around the desktop of the Science Lab.
