Portal - Havana Bienal 2019

Life is full of moments of waiting – waiting in line, waiting in traffic, for the train, or the doctor, waiting for permission, waiting for the rain to stop or just waiting for the end.

In this work the act of waiting becomes the destination, the end purpose. This supernatural Portal with the promise of traversing time and space will never eventuate and is always in a state of perpetual preparation.

While waiting, visitors of the Havana Bienal were invited to add to the Portal by colouring small flipbooks. These individual drawings, texts, patterns, and colour sequences have been added to the animated Portal.
